The Bhut Jolokia Chilli – Ghost Pepper (Ghost Chilli or poison pepper in Assamese due to its heat) has its origins in the North-Eastern Assam and Manipur regions of India. As it’s name suggests, it’s extremely hot. In 2007 it was certified the worlds hottest chilli, at over 400 times hotter than a tabasco chilli pepper. A record since broken, it rates up-to 1.1million Scoville Heat Units (SHU) and is firmly in the top-ten worlds hottest chillies.
